Roy Hodgson has left Liverpool by mututal consent after a MISERABLE 7 month stint. Hodgson had been under pressure for some time and speculation over his future intensified after Wednesday night's 3-1 defeat at Blackburn Rovers. That left Liverpool in 12th, four points above the relegation zone.
Can't blame this chap, after all it was Rafael Benitez who screwed up the mighty Liverpool over the past seasons. Constant re-shuffling, selling important players, defensive strategies all took away the heart and spirit oh what Liverpool FC is all about. Finally after leaving after last season, he joined Inter Milan and voilĂ ... same guy, same story, different place. Well, the Italians aint very sentimental. Its business ! Benitez, YOU'RE FIRED... wonder what he's upto now !
Gerard Houllier's 6 years of hard work of moudling together a TEAM paid off when Liverpool astonishingly beat AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League Final, after being behind 3-0 at half-time, which was Benitez's first year in charge.
Then on it has been a downhill, except for the superb run in the EPL 3 seasons ago... but the credit to that deservedly goes to the talismanic captain... Gerrard.
Well, so now its a local hero from yesteryear Kenny Daglish, who's given the responsibility of avoiding the embarrassment of failing to finish in the top 6 yet again.
Guess we'll just have to wait n watch where Gerrard, Torres and Co. can turn this season around.
GO LIVERPOOL...
